MedinaThe Medina County District Library had put off upgrading their accounting software for a few years. However, when their new Fiscal Officer Kelly Kroll was hired, she didn’t hesitate converting to Software Solutions VIP Accounting software. “Personally, I had used their software, both accounting and payroll, for the previous 15 years,” she states. “I had used different versions at different libraries, and so I did not hesitate to say ‘Let’s go.’”

“I’m not sure how long the previous software was in place, but we switched to VIP Accounting in July of 2013 and never looked back,” Kroll explains. “Software Solutions helped us with the conversion, which took just a few months. They trained us on-site, helped us with the clean-up process and we uploaded multiple years worth of accounting data into the new VIP system.”

Some of the staff voiced their concerns about learning a totally new system, but Kelly didn’t budge on her decision. “I just told them that this was what we had to do – that overall we would be more efficient, and it has worked out that way,” Kroll states. “Learning the software was not that big of a challenge. It was totally different from the old system, but the VIP software is so easy, there weren’t any issues. I would do it all over again.”

Kroll and her staff have seen many benefits with the new software. “We now have the ability to export reports in a number of different formats,” she explains. “We can export into PDFs and Microsoft Excel files just to name a few. We are using this software in the proper way that trained accountants are familiar with such as entering credits and debits correctly. The old system needed a work-around in order to enter data correctly.”

“We have had a number of other libraries stop by to see our VIP Accounting software in action,” states Kroll. “I am always open to letting them visit and ask questions about our experiences with Software Solutions and the product. The Medina County District Library is looking toward future expansion of their VIP software, such as adding the Workflow Modules. They also hope to make the software available to managers and department heads through the VIP Dashboard capabilities.
