In November, Circleville emerged as one of the 22 entities awarded for their spotless audit reports by Auditor of State Keith Faber. This esteemed recognition, the Auditor of State Award, is granted upon completion of a rigorous financial audit, a distinction claimed by less than eight percent of the audited entities.
To qualify for this accolade, entities must meet stringent criteria. Firstly, they need to file financial reports by the statutory deadline, adhering to GAAP standards through the Hinkle System. The audit report should be devoid of any findings for recovery, material citations, significant deficiencies, or questioned costs related to the Uniform Guidance.
Additionally, the management letter must abstain from comments concerning various issues such as ethics referrals, discrepancies in financial submissions, bank reconciliation problems, or shortcomings in meeting public meeting or record-keeping protocols. Moreover, the entity should display no other financial or operational concerns.
