Local governments are facing the reality that cyber threats keep rising, compliance demands keep tightening, and residents expect safe, modern digital services. So, when it comes to the software you rely on every day, security is foundational.

Because of that, we’re excited to share a major step forward in our commitment to protecting your data.

Software Solutions Inc. is now a member of GovRAMP—an industry-wide program built to strengthen cloud security for the public sector. It includes a Progressing Snapshot for our SaaS solution, which we’ll break down below.

What Is GovRAMP?

GovRAMP is a national security and compliance initiative that helps state and local governments identify trusted, secure cloud vendors. It’s modeled on the rigor of federal frameworks like NIST 800-53 and FedRAMP—but built specifically for city, county, village, township, and special-district needs.

So what does it do?

GovRAMP gives public-sector agencies a trusted, transparent way to evaluate the security of the systems they rely on. And it helps vendors—like SSI—prove that our software meets meaningful cybersecurity standards.

For you, this means:

  • better protection of financial and HR data

  • stronger vendor accountability

  • increased visibility into our security posture

  • and confidence that we’re actively improving

Understanding the “Progressing Snapshot” Badge

You’ll see that SSI’s SaaS product currently carries a Progressing Snapshot badge.

Progressing Snapshot is GovRAMP’s structured, step-by-step way for cloud providers to demonstrate measurable security maturity:

  • aligning with NIST standards

  • participating in routine security evaluation

  • increasing transparency

  • and continuously strengthening our cloud environment

The Progressing Snapshot badge simply means that we have begun the process of our certification journey. It's a long one, but we're excited about it! We are committed to meeting all of GovRamp's very high standards.

GovRAMP recently enhanced this program to make progress more meaningful. Here’s what changed.

GovRAMP’s Updated Requirements (Effective January 1, 2026)

GovRAMP introduced stronger guardrails to make sure every provider in the Progressing Snapshot Program is actually improving and not just participating.

Here’s what’s new:

1. You must score above zero to appear on the Progressing Product List.

No more “placeholder” listings.

2. Quarterly progress is mandatory.

Scores must go up over time. If they stay the same or drop, GovRAMP initiates an escalation process.

3. A structured escalation process now exists.

If a provider is not improving, GovRAMP will have an informal discussion, issue a formal notice, and remove the product from the list, if necessary.

And here’s what stays the same:

  • Monthly advisory support to help CSPs close gaps

  • Annual evidence refresh, meaning artifacts can’t be older than 12 months

  • Even a perfect score isn’t “done.” The goal is always to reach higher tiers like Core, Ready, Provisional, or Authorized.

GovRAMP designed these updates after feedback from both public agencies and CSPs who wanted more reliable, transparent, and trustworthy listings.

Why This Matters for State & Local Government Agencies

You get greater visibility into vendor security practices, earlier signals about a provider’s maturity, confidence that the system you rely on is actively being hardened, and a stronger cybersecurity posture across the entire public-sector ecosystem.

What Happens Next

GovRAMP’s updated rules go into effect January 1, 2026, and we’re already preparing for the transition. Our goal is to advance through GovRAMP’s maturity path in a way that reflects our dedication to security, stability, and transparency for every agency we serve.

And as always, we’ll keep you updated as we hit new milestones.
