Ross County was facing a situation common with on-site servers − it was time to upgrade their old hardware. Although their servers had stored data well over the years, they ran into issues with the logistics of maintaining their data on-site. They were tired of keeping the software updated and protected from viruses, they didn’t enjoy relying on unstable VPNs to access data remotely, and there wasn’t an easy way to complete data backups. With these issues came addtional costs and time wasted from fixing the VPN access, overseeing virus protection, and ensuring they had a reliable data backup in case of an emergency.
When Ross County was asked about their goals, they immediately knew they wanted a modern data retrieval process. They also wanted their staff to be able to work from any location without dealing with cumbersome VPN protocols to access aging on-premise servers. They wanted automatic, redundant backups to provide a safety net around their data, and required a solution that ensured business continuity and security.
Ross County compared the advantages and disadvantages of a on-premise server versus a cloud-based solution. In the end, they decided they would be better positioned for the future by eliminating maintenance and capital costs and replacing their aging server with the VIP Cloud solution. The VIP Cloud platform helped Ross County:
Ross County was thrilled with the conversion process to VIP Cloud, and they are secure in the knowledge this solution can be adapted to the county’s needs as they change and grow.
We love knowing our data is safe and secure, and we no longer have to pay to maintain large, resource-heavy hardware on site. Disaster recovery is less of a worry because we know all of our information is stored someplace else.
We appreciate the partnership with Software Solutions... they are always pushing the envelope when it comes to new technologies.
